About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct pre-visit planning by reviewing and updating patient medical records
  • Complete pre-charting of value-based items up to five days before appointments
  • Prepare patients for examinations and escort them to exam rooms
  • Record height, weight, vital signs, medications, allergies, medical history, smoking status, visit reason, and demographic information
  • Provide patient care services, including room cleaning, supply maintenance, instrument cleaning and autoclaving, and injections or immunizations within State guidelines
  • Coordinate with providers and Care Teams regarding discharges, emergency visits, consultations, resources, disease management, education, labs, testing, and specialist visits
  • Participate in departmental meetings, problem resolution, procedure analysis, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Dispose of biohazardous and regular waste according to practice protocols
  • Maintain vaccine temperature logs, medical supply inventory and ordering, medication samples, and room stock levels
  • Perform administrative tasks such as check-in, check-out, and opening and closing office procedures
  • Bring process improvement suggestions to Practice Managers and Providers
  • Travel throughout assigned SLPG practice locations in the Bethlehem/Easton region

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School degree or equivalent required
  • Graduates of accredited Medical Assistant programs are strongly preferred
  • Preferred: Two years' experience in a similar healthcare setting
  • Customer service experience is strongly preferred
  • Ability to travel to practices within the assigned Bethlehem/Easton region
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time, up to 8 hours at a time
  • Occasional ability to lift up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally push wheelchairs with patients weighing up to 325 pounds
  • Full legal name and current home address required for application
  • Employment history for the past seven years, including present employer, required
