About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide hospitalist coverage in Allentown, PA
- Work approximately 7 to 8 24-hour shifts per month
- Provide high-quality, cost-effective medical care to OB/GYN patients
- Perform patient histories, physical examinations and consultations
- Round on assigned patients and collaborate with advanced practitioners
- Provide mentorship to OB/GYN residents and medical students
- Participate in departmental quality, safety, research and performance improvement initiatives
- Follow approved standardized orders and evidence-based practice guidelines
- Communicate with referring physicians, patients and families
- Educate patients and their families
- Supervise advanced practitioners
- Maintain medical records and complete chart reviews promptly
- Submit timely and accurate billing information
- Attend practice group meetings and continuing medical education
- Develop effective working relationships within the hospital and St. Luke’s University Health Network
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited medical school
- Completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty
- Current or recent experience in area of specialty
- MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice
- Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board
- Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges
- Eligible to maintain eligibility as a provider of Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health programs
- Meet all qualifications to participate in professional malpractice and other liability coverage
- Ability to maintain Pennsylvania/New Jersey licensure through appropriate continuing medical education
- Ability to perform required physical and sensory tasks, including lifting, carrying and pushing objects up to 75 lbs and transporting patients weighing up to 250 lbs
