About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide high-quality, cost-effective medical care to OB/GYN patients
- Provide hospitalist coverage in Allentown, Pennsylvania
- Work approximately 7 to 8 24-hour call shifts per month
- Provide mentorship to OB/GYN residents and medical students
- Participate in departmental quality, safety, research, patient satisfaction, and performance improvement initiatives
- Perform histories and physical examinations and provide consultations requested by other physicians
- Round on assigned patients and collaborate with advanced practitioners as needed
- Follow evidence-based medicine, standardized orders, and approved practice guidelines
- Communicate regularly with referring physicians, patients, and families
- Educate patients and their families
- Participate in practice group meetings
- Maintain medical records and complete chart reviews promptly
- Submit timely and accurate billing information
- Supervise advanced practitioners
- Develop effective working relationships within the hospital and St. Luke’s University Health Network
Requirements
What you’ll need- Graduate of an accredited medical school
- Completion of residency and/or fellowship in area of specialty required
- Current or recent experience in area of specialty required
- MD or DO licensed by the state licensure board within the state of practice
- Board Certified/Eligible in the area of specialty by the appropriate medical board required
- Obtain and maintain medical staff membership and appropriate privileges
- Must be eligible and maintain eligibility as a provider of Medicare, Medicaid and other federal health programs
- Must meet all qualifications to participate in professional malpractice and other liability coverage
- Ability to perform required physical and sensory duties, including lifting, carrying, pushing, patient transport, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and hearing/vision requirements
- Maintain Pennsylvania/New Jersey licensure through appropriate continuing medical education
