Physical Therapist Assistant

About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide coordinated physical therapy to patients of all age groups under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist
- Administer the physical therapy treatment plan developed by the licensed Physical Therapist
- Facilitate patients’ range of motion, strength, coordination, assistive equipment use, functional mobility, and safety related to activities of daily living
- Communicate with the Therapy Supervisor, Patient Care Manager, and appropriate staff to plan patient and family care
- Confer with occupational therapy, nursing, speech-language pathology, social work, and home health aide staff in planning rehabilitation
- Observe, record, and report patient treatment responses and changes in condition to physicians and/or clinical supervisors
- Complete timely, accurate, legible documentation in compliance with agency policies and directives
- Document care effectiveness and outcomes and revise care as needed
- Plan patient discharge in conjunction with the licensed Physical Therapist
- Instruct health team personnel, patients, and family members in physical therapy activities and activities of daily living
- Apply infection control and universal precautions during patient care
- Accept clinical assignments consistent with education and competence
- Provide orientation to new employees regarding scope of practice
- Use personal transportation to provide services
Requirements
What you’ll need- Certificate of Authority for Indirect Supervision from Pennsylvania State Board of Physical Therapy required
- Graduate of an accredited school of physical therapy with an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy
- One to two years of experience as a Physical Therapist Assistant preferred
- Must have and maintain a valid Pennsylvania or New Jersey Driver’s License
- Must have and maintain a good driving record accepted by the Network insurance carrier
- Must have and maintain motor vehicle insurance meeting the minimum requirements established by Pennsylvania or New Jersey
- Must obey and adhere to all motor vehicle regulations and laws while operating the vehicle
- Must perform routine maintenance on vehicle
- Must be able to sit for up to ninety minutes at a time
- Must tolerate standing for thirty to forty-five minutes consecutively
- Must be able to use hands/fingers to manipulate dials on machines
- Must be able to lift/move and push/pull patients weighing up to 300 lbs.
- Must frequently stoop/bend, squat, crouch, kneel, and reach above shoulder level
- Must have tactile sensation for feeling muscle spasms, texture, and skin temperature
- Must be able to hear normal conversation and call bells
- Must have general vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision
- Submit application using full legal name and current home address
- Include employment history for the past seven years, including present employer
