About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead planning, development and delivery of major healthcare infrastructure and capital works projects across the national portfolio
  • Drive enterprise project governance, systems, processes and delivery frameworks
  • Oversee project feasibility, cost planning, design management and development strategies
  • Manage complex construction, refurbishment, redevelopment and commissioning programs
  • Ensure projects align with strategic priorities, operational objectives and healthcare service requirements
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across executive teams, hospital leadership, clinicians, consultants, contractors and government bodies
  • Provide financial oversight of capital expenditure, project budgets and enterprise programs of work
  • Identify and mitigate project risks relating to cost, quality, safety, delivery and performance
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements
  • Drive value creation through growth opportunities, service improvements and strategic investments
  • Provide strategic leadership across project planning, development, feasibility, refurbishment, reconfiguration, construction delivery, operational commissioning and post-completion management
  • Collaborate with finance, procurement, legal, technology and external partners
  • Report to the National Director, Property Management

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture, Project Management, Construction Management or a related discipline
  • Proven experience leading projects valued in excess of $10 million
  • Minimum of 7 years' experience developing and delivering healthcare infrastructure projects
  • Extensive experience working with clinicians, hospital executives and healthcare stakeholders
  • Demonstrated success leading complex project teams and managing diverse stakeholder groups
  • Strong experience in project feasibility, cost planning, design management and procurement
  • Extensive capability in project financial administration, capital expenditure management and enterprise-level reporting
  • Proven expertise in contractor, consultant and stakeholder management
  • Experience managing project quality, risk and safety throughout the project lifecycle
  • Strong contract management and procurement experience
  • Ability to manage multiple major projects simultaneously while maintaining oversight of cost, quality, programme and risk outcomes
  • Flexibility to travel across the east coast of Australia as required
  • Employment subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks, including identification, right-to-work, reference and nationally coordinated criminal history checks
  • Must comply with applicable St Vincent's Health Australia policies and screening requirements
  • Highly regarded: Project Management qualifications
  • Highly regarded: Experience in hospital planning and design
  • Highly regarded: WHS experience within a project management environment
  • Highly regarded: Client-side or contractor-side project director experience
