About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Own the catastrophe plan across every peril and state Stand writes, including activation levels, roles, vendor capacity, regulatory reporting, and customer and broker outreach
  • Keep the catastrophe plan current and test it with a tabletop before each season
  • Run the response when an event hits by calling activation levels, leading daily team calls, directing TPAs and field vendors, briefing leadership, and deploying Stand people to insurance villages and hard-hit customers
  • Manage claims TPAs day to day, including staffing, open inventory, escalations, large losses, and payment approvals within authority
  • Enforce TPA service standards through scorecards, closed-file audits, and remedies
  • Own the Emergency Response Program end to end, including event monitoring, property monitoring decisions, outreach, and vendor deployment
  • Partner with Product and Engineering to automate exposure analysis, deployment recommendations, and customer and broker outreach
  • Own the vendor bench across field response, mitigation, housing, contents, engineering, and independent adjusting firms, including contracts, standby terms, capacity, and performance
  • Deliver a 30-day assessment of the catastrophe plan, TPA standards, and vendor bench
  • Deliver a written catastrophe plan and tabletop exercises within the first three months
  • Establish TPA scorecards, vendor standby terms, automated exposure analysis and outreach, and successfully run a live event or exercise within the first year
  • Report to the Head of Claims and Client Experience and collaborate across Product, Engineering, Underwriting, market teams, TPAs, and field vendors
  • Lead catastrophe response and brief leadership when an event occurs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience leading property claims through real catastrophe events, including calling the response, directing adjusters, and maintaining quality under pressure
  • Hurricane experience is a strong plus
  • Experience managing TPAs or independent adjusting firms, including service standards, capacity, pricing, and scorecards
  • Knowledge of state catastrophe reporting requirements and claim-handling deadlines across several states
  • Ability to run a live response from the office and field and make sound decisions with incomplete information
  • Comfortable building processes from a blank page in a small, fast-moving company
  • Wildfire experience is nice to have
  • Experience scoping automation with Product and Engineering teams is nice to have
  • Underwriting, inspection, or mitigation experience alongside claims is nice to have
  • Florida or high-net-worth property experience is nice to have
  • Experience building or running an emergency response program is nice to have
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.; Stand does not sponsor new work visas
  • Candidates on TN, O-1A, or H-1B transfer visas may be considered subject to the stated conditions
  • Strong communication, sound judgment, and ability to articulate experience and decision-making
