About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Independently design improved application workflows, feature designs, and testing protocols
  • Evaluate QA and testing software and solutions and introduce new tools to the team
  • Support core IT systems and services for Stanford Medicine
  • Monitor software design, function, performance, log reviews, automated alerts, performance metrics, and service metrics
  • Create and manage application-specific workflows for triaging customer requests, provisioning resources, and tracking workflow progress
  • Lead Agile best practices and act as product owner for selected applications
  • Present data service analytics, issue reports, and application performance and support metrics to leadership
  • Provide tier-2 and tier-3 support for IT system incidents
  • Assist junior team members with application incidents, maintenance items, and enhancement requests
  • Coordinate application support with other IT teams and interact frequently with clients
  • Train and mentor junior staff members and contractors
  • Act as a technology subject matter expert and communicate technical concepts across teams
  • Own medium- to high-complexity issues and facilitate resolution between customers and support staff
  • Troubleshoot customer issues and provide technical solutions
  • Maintain up-to-date technical project documentation
  • Research complex or controversial issues and develop solution options with risks, benefits, costs, and consequences
  • Facilitate team and cross-team meetings and maintain meeting records
  • Use visual thinking, workshops, personas, stories, journeys, maps, experiments, and prototypes to communicate and improve user experiences
  • Document design decisions and collaborate with business and development teams to resolve implementation issues and ensure quality

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • BA/BS in information technology or business-related field from accredited college or university
  • Five (5) or more years of related work experience
  • Strong knowledge of internet/web tools, software development, scripting languages, and database design and use
  • Strong understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
  • Strong understanding of SQL, relational design, normalization, and NoSQL databases
  • Very strong logical processing and ability to systematically deduce points of failure in complex systems
  • Strong shell scripting skills
  • Understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work on multiple overlapping projects
  • Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and interpret results
  • Ability to identify risks and issues
  • Ability to collaborate and build consensus with stakeholders
  • Ability to understand and adhere to operational standards, policies, and procedures
