About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage, grow, and develop a sales territory with distribution customers
  • Support and represent Stanley Black & Decker industrial solution brands including DeWalt, Stanley, Lenox, Proto, and Irwin
  • Identify target opportunities, run product trials, and provide cost savings analysis reports
  • Identify end-user applications and recommend cost-effective products for sawing operations
  • Support customers with sales analysis, inventory control, and promotions
  • Manage expense reporting, paperwork, forecasts, gap plans, upside opportunities, and other territory-management requests
  • Keep distributors informed and motivated about products
  • Create and present value-based communications to distribution customers and end users
  • Troubleshoot equipment and perform minor repairs, alignment, and calibration
  • Conduct product-performance trials to achieve optimum performance
  • Travel approximately 35% overnight within the assigned territory

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s or associate degree in a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent trade experience in a shop environment
  • 2+ years of direct sales experience in industrial sales is strongly preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required
  • Technical and mechanical ability to work with tools and machines
  • Proficiency with Salesforce.com or another CRM is preferred
  • Demonstrated time management skills and ability to set priorities is required
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, electric, pneumatic, and mechanical systems is preferable
  • Ability to develop and present programs to customers and the sales organization
  • Fluent Spanish is a plus
  • Must be able to work within the assigned Western Michigan/Northeast Indiana territory
  • Must be able to travel approximately 35% overnight within the territory
  • Must not require visa sponsorship; role is not eligible for H1B, OPT/CPT, or TN sponsorship
