About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Partner with People Partners, People team leaders, and senior leadership to map current and future capability needs
  • Identify critical skills gaps across the business
  • Align talent development initiatives and outcomes with Starling’s business goals and long-term functional strategies
  • Challenge initial requests where appropriate and diagnose underlying capability or performance issues
  • Determine whether development is the appropriate intervention
  • Own end-to-end design and delivery of talent development interventions
  • Decide whether to build, buy, or curate solutions based on strategic relevance, speed, and skills
  • Create innovative learning solutions for conceptual capability problems
  • Develop and utilise talent analytics, the Learning Management System, and data dashboards
  • Measure the effectiveness and ROI of development interventions
  • Drive delivery of workstreams and key components of large-scale talent activities across teams
  • Share knowledge, contribute to best practices, and act as a recognised talent development expert

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proven experience translating business strategy and long-term goals into actionable talent development initiatives and capability-building programmes
  • Ability to canvas diverse perspectives and foster an inclusive/enabling culture for sharing ideas
  • Track record simplifying complex strategic messages and influencing diverse stakeholder groups across all levels
  • Expertise leveraging talent analytics and LMS data to evaluate skills gaps, measure learning ROI, and guide strategic development decisions
  • Strong project management background with clear accountability, transparent decision-making, and continuous learning
  • Proven track record as a senior talent development professional designing, delivering, and evaluating large-scale talent development initiatives
  • Significant experience using influencing and co-creating skills to partner across the organisation regardless of reporting lines
  • Expert in-person and virtual facilitation skills, including ability to read a room and challenge when necessary
  • Experience owning end-to-end projects and delivering at pace with minimal guidance
  • Experience using data and analytics to drive continuous improvement in talent development offerings
  • Experience operating within a scaling organisation in the Tech or FinTec sector
  • Desirable: experience using AI in talent development programmes or passion for AI and technology
  • Desirable: experience supporting large-scale change programmes
  • Desirable: experience strategically leveraging the Apprenticeship Levy
  • Desirable: experience identifying talent and potential using talent and performance data for succession, career development, and internal progression
