About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform accounting activities in the Disbursements Section of the Bureau of Financial Services
- Apply Department of Financial Services, FLAIR, and AHCA accounting rules and procedures
- Audit travel reimbursements and/or approve Purchasing Card payments
- Process inter-agency and unencumbered payments in FLAIR and assist with MyFloridaMarketPlace payments
- Conduct internal audit reviews to validate invoices and supporting documentation
- Review three-date stamps, invoice accuracy, compliance, and account coding
- Perform daily quality assurance reviews of Disbursements Section vouchers
- Ensure vouchers are accounted for and filed according to Bureau rules
- Assist in developing a Mentorship Program through internal workshops
- Respond to travel and voucher inquiries from vendors, program offices, the Vendor Ombudsman, and DFS
- Research and resolve discrepancies and disputes
- Participate in the certified forward process by establishing payables for prior-year invoices or payments due as of June 30
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- Two (2) years or more of accounts payable experience
- One (1) year or more working with the Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
- Ability to understand and apply applicable accounting rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Successful completion of State and National criminal history check before employment
- Fingerprinting for State and Federal criminal records checks through FDLE and FBI
- Subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing
- Preferred: High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field and two years of professional accounting experience, or qualifying combinations of experience and college education
- Preferred: Master's degree in accounting or CPA Certificate and one year of professional accounting experience
- Preferred: One year or more processing non-revolving credit cards/Purchasing Cards through Works or another web-based/electronic system
- Preferred: One year or more processing travel using STMS or another web-based/electronic system
