About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Administer and oversee accounts receivable, Medicaid recoupment, and Agency assessment and fee collection activities for Florida Medicaid providers
  • Lead collection of monies owed to the Agency for fraud, abuse, overpayments, and past-due debts
  • Identify and recommend debts for referral to collection agencies and recommend uncollectible debts for write-off consideration
  • Ensure timely, accurate, and consistent reporting for Medicaid Accounts Receivables, MPI receivables, HOA receivables, and other debts owed to AHCA
  • Communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate employees
  • Plan and direct employees’ work and make recommendations regarding personnel actions
  • Develop and update section and unit procedures
  • Assist with development of bureau and agency policies on recoupment, collections, debt referrals, and write-offs
  • Serve as subject matter expert on agency debt recoupment, collection, and referrals
  • Provide revenue management support and administer activities and documents for the Agency Write-off Committee
  • Monitor and manage recoupment, collections, fees, assessments, and fines processes for timeliness, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Ensure Agency Action Letters, Final Orders, Settlement Agreements, and management systems are accurate and current
  • Review and edit charging documents, final orders, and settlement agreements
  • Maintain the Medicaid Accounts Receivable data program and initiate Medicaid overpayment case setup after Final Orders are received
  • Ensure preparation of accounting and management statements, procedures, forecasts, revenue projections, and reports
  • Assist Medicaid providers, agency staff, and auditors with accounts receivable information
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation to federal and state auditors and agency offices
  • Ensure compliance with financial administrative requirements
  • Set staff performance expectations, implement development plans, evaluate performance, provide feedback, and take corrective action when needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Six years of professional experience working in the areas of finance, accounting, or another business-related field
  • A bachelor’s degree and/or master's degree in a business-related field may substitute for the work experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
  • Knowledge of methods of data collection
  • Skill in using Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, other technology solutions and accounting systems
  • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records
  • Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to an accounting program
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Ability to work independently and utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to utilize microcomputer equipment and software to enter, retrieve and manipulate data
  • Successful completion of a State and National criminal history check before beginning employment
  • Subject to reasonable suspicion drug testing in accordance with the Drug-Free Workplace Act
  • Good attendance record; expected to report to work daily and on time
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, and during disasters or emergencies
  • Must meet applicable background-screening requirements
