About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide complex and high-level administrative and clerical support
- Schedule hearings, coordinate cases, conduct case research and preparation, and manage dockets
- Handle a high volume of cases and case inquiries
- Operate a multi-line telephone system and perform administrative office duties
- Prepare, track, and maintain statistical reports and correspondence
- Communicate with judges and judicial staff, pro-se litigants, attorneys and their staff, case managers, clerks, and the public
- Coordinate motions and pleadings by contacting parties to set in-person and virtual hearings
- Review electronic case files for accuracy, format compliance, completeness, and required documents
- Maintain trial dockets, continuances, and orders
- Prepare and distribute hearing notices
- Prepare and maintain the General Magistrate’s court and professional calendar
- Schedule and coordinate motions, hearings, and conferences
- Provide general guidance for filing motions and scheduling hearing dates
- Coordinate foreign language interpreters and ADA accommodations
- Verify case law citations on memoranda
- Develop work methods for seamless calendaring and case tracking
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED and two years of college or vocational school education in paralegal, secretarial skills, computer operations, or a closely related field
- Basic knowledge of court operations
- Ability to coordinate court activities with various agencies involved when scheduling court events
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally
- Ability to use the Internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, virtual platforms such as Zoom, and other computer applications as required
- Successful applicant must undergo a background check including fingerprinting
