About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Supervise and direct employees within DCF Revenue Management’s Grants Finance Unit
  • Communicate with, motivate, train, and evaluate employees
  • Hire, transfer, suspend, lay off, recall, promote, discharge, assign, reward, or discipline subordinate employees, or effectively recommend such actions
  • Develop performance expectations and personal development targets
  • Meet regularly with staff to discuss performance and provide coaching
  • Complete performance reviews and maintain vacation, work, and timesheet records
  • Ensure team coverage and plan employee workloads, workflows, deadlines, objectives, and time utilization
  • Direct preparation of financial reports and statements
  • Review reports, working papers, and schedules for accuracy
  • Provide or arrange staff development, training, and technical assistance
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external control procedures and GAAP principles
  • Support financial and grant-related analyses, federal and state grant reporting, federal draw reconciliations, and cost allocation methodologies

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Proficient using Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to various internal and external audiences
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration, or similar fields and two years of experience in similar fields; OR Associate’s degree in these fields and at least 4 years’ experience; OR High School diploma or GED equivalent and at least 6 years’ experience in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or similar fields
  • Knowledge of methods of data collection and analysis
  • Knowledge of basic management principles and practices
  • Knowledge of state budgeting processes, including preparation and processing of non-operating budget amendments
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word
  • Skilled at presenting information and data to key stakeholders in-person and online
  • Ability to supervise employees
  • Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data; develop recommendations; solve problems; and document workflows
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to organize data into logical formats for reports and written materials
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
  • Ability to organize and conduct leadership-level meetings on financial, budget, and grant activities
