About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support the Florida Resilient Program and provide technical assistance for planning, funding, permitting, and monitoring of resilience adaptation projects
  • Aid grant managers with deliverable reviews, grant workplan reviews, scope of work changes, and eligibility issues
  • Help develop guidelines and criteria for reviewing project data and compliance with statutes, rules, and policies
  • Conduct technical reviews of proposed adaptation projects, monitoring data, and vulnerability studies
  • Prepare written comments, reports, and recommendations for long-term strategies
  • Assist with on-site or virtual inspections to evaluate project tasks, deliverables, grant compliance, and project performance
  • Review grant applications, identify eligible entities and projects, evaluate and score applications, and provide QA support
  • Work with planning, GIS, and Salesforce teams to enhance evaluation processes and develop training materials
  • Perform data review and creation, deliverable review, scope of work creation, report writing, project management assistance, coordination, and invoicing
  • Assist in developing and reviewing geodatabases, spatial layers, dashboards, mobile applications, and Salesforce data sources
  • Coordinate education and outreach activities, including training materials, workshops, conferences, open houses, and event logistics
  • Represent Florida Resilient staff in applicant meetings, public meetings, and Department and interagency discussions
  • Coordinate with Department sections and program areas to protect Florida’s environment and natural resources
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • At least six years of verifiable related experience
  • Post-secondary degrees from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the required four years of experience on a year-for-year basis
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to travel
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS desktop and mobile applications
  • Ability to apply critical thinking for planning/infrastructure problems
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and manage time efficiently
  • Ability to provide technical assistance to Department staff, local governments, and other external stakeholders
  • Skilled in collecting, compiling, organizing, and analyzing data
  • Ability to develop data products to streamline data analysis
  • Working knowledge of resilience or engineering
  • Knowledge of statutes, rules, and policies related to coastal construction and environmental resources
