About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide information, guidance, direction, and assistance for highly complex health care licensure applications
  • Perform professional and regulatory activities for Board of Medicine professions, focusing on physician assistant and anesthesiologist assistant professions
  • Review and analyze temporary and permanent examination and MOBILE endorsement applications
  • Conduct second-level evaluations of complex files, transcripts, and supporting documentation
  • Apply statutory and rule requirements to determine eligibility or identify deficiencies
  • Track licensure conditions and update applicant databases with licensure status
  • Provide LEIDS reports
  • Respond to high-level telephone and email inquiries regarding licensure requirements
  • Manage the shared BOM_InitialApps@flhealth.gov inbox and communicate technical licensure information to applicants
  • Serve as subject matter expert for complex licensure determinations and statutory interpretation
  • Approve or escalate applications and recommend action to leadership on complex regulatory matters
  • Prepare, review, and organize licensure applications and packages for Board meetings
  • Issue meeting notices after agenda materials are approved
  • Implement Board directives, issue licenses, update licensure records, and complete post-meeting actions
  • Assist with interviewing and hiring employees processing physician assistant and anesthesiologist assistant applications
  • Train new employees on application review, credentials review, and examination processes
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be physically present in the office to perform job duties and responsibilities
  • Ability to compile, organize, and analyze data
  • Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve complaints
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies, and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and consumer protection
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English
  • Successful security background check and/or drug screening
  • Direct deposit participation
  • Completion of Form I-9 and employment eligibility verification through E-Verify
  • Selective Service registration or exemption for applicable male applicants
  • Ability to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days
