About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide information, guidance, direction, and assistance with highly complex health care licensure applications
- Perform professional and regulatory activities and administrative duties for the Board of Nursing
- Assist with phone calls received by the Board of Nursing mini-call center
- Advise customers on appropriate actions and procedures and provide requested information
- Log call interactions in the LEIDS Contact History field
- Maintain records and notify processing units regarding customer requests
- Take appropriate licensure action and document actions in electronic systems
- Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention
- Research information using LEIDS, Axiom Pro, NURSYS, and Pearson
- Route calls to appropriate departments or units
- Respond to Live Chat inquiries and route them when necessary
- Respond to high-level telephonic and email inquiries regarding licensure applications, renewal requirements, and continuing education standards
- Monitor the Board’s shared email inbox and respond within required internal timeframes
- Communicate with licensees and continuing education provider applicants regarding continuing education requirements and licensure status
- Serve as subject matter expert for complex licensure determinations
- Analyze statutory interpretation, accreditation compliance, active practice evaluations, and non-routine applicant scenarios
- Approve or escalate licensure applications under Chapters 456 and 464, Florida Statutes, and applicable Board rules
- Provide recommendations to leadership on complex regulatory matters
- Develop and maintain training tools, including desk guides and PowerPoint presentations
- Participate in monthly training team meetings and develop the annual training plan
- Provide group training presentations and guidance to preceptors
- Open, process, and direct incoming applications, mail, and facsimiles to the proper processing unit
- Complete transmittal forms for applications and fees
- Stamp envelopes and fold/mail letters as needed
- Process Retired Volunteer Nurse applications and verify statutory requirements and supporting documentation
- Issue approval letters and save copies to practitioner licensure files
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be physically present in the office to effectively perform job duties and responsibilities
- Ability to compile, organize and analyze data
- Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve complaints
- Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and consumer protection
- Ability to provide consultative assistance to others
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Security background check and/or drug screening required
- Participation in direct deposit required
- Must complete Form I-9 and employment eligibility will be verified using E-Verify
- Ability to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English
- May be required to perform emergency duty before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days
- Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must be registered with the Selective Services System or have a Letter of Registration Exemption
