About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Process, evaluate, and determine eligibility for complex CNA, LPN, RN, and APRN licensure applications
  • Apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies, and procedures applicable to the Board of Nursing
  • Compile documentation and prepare summaries, packets, and conference call agendas for board review
  • Prepare and redact confidential documentation in Adobe Acrobat PDF
  • Extract, rearrange, and rotate PDF documents
  • Draft Notices of Hearing with dates, times, locations, and committee placement
  • Correspond with applicants regarding deficiencies, application statuses, concerns, additional information, statutes, and processing procedures
  • Verify licensure statuses and disciplinary actions or open cases through NURSYS or applicable state websites
  • Notify the Background Screening Unit about files requiring board review
  • Assist with Team 15 watchlist-school applications, including running reports, sending hearing notices, and creating required-appearance lists
  • Monitor conditionally approved files and Conditional/Active licenses
  • Audit and process files within established timelines
  • Send approval and denial letters to the Clerk’s Office and applicants
  • Contact applicants when board orders or correspondence are undeliverable
  • Draft Notices of Termination after probation or conditions are completed
  • Process files returned from the Background Screening Unit and exemptions from disqualification
  • Process incoming documentation, Livescan screenings, and document-repository files
  • Respond to complex mail and email inquiries and record documentation within one business day
  • Maintain accurate licensure database information and report data-entry or vendor errors
  • Maintain electronic licensure filing systems and prepare supplemental documents for imaging
  • Develop training tools, participate in training meetings, contribute to the annual training plan, provide group training, and guide preceptors
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data
  • Ability to investigate, analyze, and resolve complaints
  • Ability to understand and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies and procedures for licensing and regulation of professionals and consumer protection
  • Ability to provide consultative assistance to others
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Must complete a security background check and/or drug screening
  • Must participate in direct deposit
  • Must complete Form I-9 and employment eligibility verification through E-Verify
  • Must be able to learn and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English
  • Male applicants born on or after October 1, 1962, must meet Selective Services System registration or exemption requirements
