About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support medical foster care families and improve outcomes for medically complex children and youth
  • Partner with caregivers, medical teams, and community stakeholders
  • Provide training, education, and ongoing support to families
  • Advocate for safe, supportive homes tailored to each child’s needs
  • Conduct home visits, caregiver evaluations, and child/youth care assessments
  • Liaise between foster parents, Medicaid plans, and community partners
  • Coordinate daily program operations, admissions, and clinical support
  • Monitor documentation, services, and caregiver performance for quality assurance
  • Provide after-hours guidance when urgent needs arise
  • Travel throughout Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties, with 30% travel time
  • Report to the Senior Registered Nursing Supervisor

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must be licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse under Florida Statute 464 or hold a Compact License from a participating state
  • Must hold a valid unrestricted Florida Driver License
  • Willing to take compensated on-call after hours and on weekends or holidays
  • Willing to make home and community visits and perform independent assessments
  • Knowledge of nursing care for children with special health care needs
  • Knowledge of the foster care system and child/family community resources
  • Nursing assessment and clinical nursing skills
  • Ability to provide training and education to health care professionals, parents, and medical foster care parents
  • Nursing documentation skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing in English
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to access and utilize community resources
  • Ability to access computer data systems and websites
  • Pediatric nursing experience preferred
  • 3–5 years of nursing experience preferred
  • Experience as a registered nurse with children and youth with special health care needs preferred
  • Experience in critical care, NICU, PIC, or high-tech pediatric home health care preferred
  • Experience with child welfare, Medicaid Managed Care, or care coordination/case management preferred
  • Experience with electronic health records and data entry preferred
  • Successful security background check and/or drug screening required
