About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle civil and labor litigation matters
- Review pleadings, analyze defenses, define legal arguments, and monitor relevant proceedings
- Participate in labor and civil hearings and act as the company representative when necessary
- Draft responses to extrajudicial notices and counter-notices
- Handle collection actions, annulment and declaratory actions, and other civil litigation matters
- Prepare legal opinions on litigation risks, civil liability, defense strategies, liability mitigation, likelihood of success, and provisioning
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Personnel Administration, the company clinic, Finance, Collections, and Sales
- Manage and monitor external law firms, validating strategies and overseeing quality
- Organize and control case schedules, procedural deadlines, hearings, and activities across the litigation portfolio
- Consolidate management and executive reports on contingencies, metrics, and legal risks
- Participate in defining strategies for significant matters and support internal and external audits
- Ensure compliance with internal governance, compliance, and risk management policies
- Identify improvements to legal processes through the use of technology, automation, and Artificial Intelligence
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Law, with active registration with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB)
- Postgraduate qualification in Labor Law, Civil Procedural Law, Corporate Law, or related fields is a plus
- At least 4 years of professional experience as an attorney, with active OAB registration and experience in civil and/or labor litigation
- Experience managing judicial proceedings and overseeing external law firms
- Strong knowledge of Civil Procedural Law and Labor Law
- Experience reviewing pleadings, analyzing defenses, developing litigation strategies, and participating in hearings
- Experience with extrajudicial notices, collection actions, and monitoring judicial proceedings
- Ability to assess legal risk, civil liability, contingencies, and provisioning
- Experience collaborating with internal departments to gather documents, align information, and develop defense strategies
- Strong organizational skills, deadline management, docket management, and experience monitoring high-volume litigation portfolios
- Proficiency in Excel for maintaining controls, tracking metrics, and preparing reports
- Intermediate or advanced Spanish is preferred
- English proficiency for reading, communication, and interaction in corporate environments is preferred
- Experience with operations or legal matters involving Latin American (LATAM) countries
