About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Communicate with assigned customer base as the single point of contact and build relationships
- Work with internal departments and analyst teams to balance capacity and freight
- Solicit additional freight opportunities to eliminate empty miles when necessary
- Research and remedy service issues daily
- Track and trace shipments and provide superior service with on-time performance of 95% or better
- Relay excess load availability to Brokerage and Rail divisions
- Review EDI data for accuracy before releasing customer verifications
- Oversee internal activities impacting service obligations
- Maintain key carrier performance indicators
- Navigate customer requests, including last-minute requests within supply chain delivery timelines
- Manage bookings and resolve delayed pickup/delivery and billing issues
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales, or transportation operations
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel functions
- Ability to handle high volumes of inbound/outbound email
- Understanding of capacity and network
- Ability to perform in a deadline-driven environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Ability to service multi-million-dollar accounts and support new and existing sales opportunities
- Expertise in specific KPI contract details per client and awards
- Some familiarity with AS/400 operating system
