About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support and maintain multi-account, multi-region AWS infrastructure
  • Build whole-stack AWS Elastic Load Balancing for databases and applications
  • Lead migration and launch of sites and services to new environments
  • Assist with deploying Node.js, Golang, and other custom applications across company brands
  • Provision, manage, and deploy public and private SSL/TLS certificates using AWS Certificate Manager
  • Manage cloud resources and deploy Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
  • Monitor systems, respond to alerts, and troubleshoot testing and production issues
  • Build and maintain deployment and operations-platform tools, solutions, and microservices
  • Improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
  • Lead the DevOps Engineering function and advise management on best practices
  • Test system integrity, designs, application developments, and infrastructure processes
  • Update and design processes; document infrastructure, processes, and runbooks
  • Deploy product updates and implement integrations
  • Follow security best practices, manage access controls, and automate operational processes
  • Specify, document, and develop product features, including automation scripts
  • Manage assigned projects and collaborate with developers and engineers
  • Work with open-source technologies and provide technical support, including back-end software development
  • Forecast and report AWS and related-service spend
  • Make AWS and industry-trend recommendations supporting business growth

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Software Engineering, or related field
  • 2–3 years of experience in a DevOps Engineer, cloud engineering, systems administration, or similar role
  • Strong experience with Linux/Unix-based infrastructures and administration; MacOS or Linux locally
  • Strong communication skills
  • Stellar troubleshooting skills and ability to investigate issues independently
  • Strong time and project management skills; ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Knowledge of industry trends, IT operations, and best practices
  • Team-oriented approach
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, VPC, ELB, S3, CloudFormation, CloudTrail, Route 53, RDS, SQS, Code Deploy, IAM, AWS Lambda, and CloudWatch
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools, especially Terraform
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and Git/GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, and CircleCI
  • Scripting experience with JavaScript, Node.js, React, JSON, Python, Bash, or Ruby
  • Experience with MS SQL, Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL, and/or MongoDB, including MongoDB Atlas
  • Experience with Agile, Jira, Workfront, and Scrum/Kanban
  • Experience with open-source technologies and cloud services
  • Desired certifications include AWS SysOps Administrator, AWS DevOps Engineer, or Microsoft Azure DevOps Engineer, or working toward one
  • Must be willing to provide after-hours support when needed
  • Master's degree, containers and orchestration, monitoring/logging tools, networking fundamentals, Microsoft Azure, Node.js and Golang applications, multi-region or multi-account AWS setups, security/compliance concepts, and serverless architectures are not mandatory or are a plus
