About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Design, develop, test, and deploy mission-critical applications for SEI
Design and develop modifications to the custom-developed Sophia application
Work closely with business analysts, key users, and the project team to assess business needs and determine and implement technology solutions
Adhere to and promote Agile development methods, including Test Driven Development and automated build environments
Recommend technical approaches that deliver reliable and efficient code
Work within a fast-paced Agile development environment
Design and develop robust solutions
Collaborate with project team members and information technology colleagues to create future product iterations from defined requirements
Participate in and develop new software releases
Work with QA to create test plans
Assist in creating implementation plans
Troubleshoot and recommend solutions to production issues
Provide level 3 development support after enterprise application implementation
Contribute to the ongoing development of technical best practices

Requirements

What you’ll need

Strong proficiency in Ruby
Strong proficiency in JavaScript and Front End Frameworks
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and cloud architectures
Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
Experience writing complex SQL queries
Knowledge of responsive design patterns
Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker
Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
Knowledge of version control
Knowledge of Agile
Excellent communication and collaboration skills
Strong problem-solving skills and an innovative mindset
Strong time management and organizational skills
5+ years of experience in web application design, development, and implementation
5+ years of experience with Ruby, JavaScript, and Responsive Web Design
2+ years of experience working with AWS Infrastructure
Experience with Test Driven Development, Automation, AWS, and Jira
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
AWS certifications are a plus
Must be able to travel up to 10% of the time
Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job
