About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Manage the Strong Start process for new students and Learning Coaches
  • Facilitate Strong Start orientation sessions
  • Track invitations, engagement, and communication to increase attendance and understanding
  • Document the Strong Start process in the school and handbook
  • Oversee weekly office hours/help sessions for new families
  • Liaise among students, Learning Coaches, and teachers
  • Facilitate professional development on family engagement for school staff
  • Develop and facilitate Learning Coach education and training programs
  • Provide online parent enrichment trainings on goal setting, portfolios, learning styles, technology skills, scheduling, time management, test taking, and related topics
  • Foster community involvement with families, board members, administrators, and school staff
  • Support standardized testing processes and policies with a focus on family engagement and volunteers
  • Work on re-registration activities with school leadership and national teams
  • Connect families to national K12 programming
  • Support marketing competitions, student clubs, and academic student competitions
  • Provide individualized support to students and Learning Coaches with training gaps or networking requests
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate annual communications plans
  • Develop and maintain internal and external communications, including newsletters, announcements, flyers, websites, auto-dialer calls/texts, and social media groups
  • Write, edit, and design internal communication content
  • Facilitate live face-to-face family engagement opportunities such as college visits, back-to-school events, and book fairs
  • Provide outreach, training, and support based on Students First Check In survey responses
  • Serve as the school's social media manager and facilitator

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Must reside in North Carolina
  • Bachelor's degree in education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study AND two (2) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/Learning Coaches, and/or facilitating community involvement OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Familiarity with online learning environment
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visit, etc.) and web proficiency
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time
  • Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, developing parent mentors/parent training, and/or facilitating community involvement
  • Master's degree in education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study preferred
