About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver specific course content in an online environment
Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
Personalize learning based on students’ individual needs
Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals
Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
Differentiate instruction based on student mastery
Augment course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools
Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
Make student placement and promotion decisions
Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
Travel as required, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school needs

Requirements

What you’ll need

Alabama Business and/or Computer Science Teaching Certificate
Residency in Alabama; surrounding states may be considered with a valid Alabama Teaching Certificate
Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
Ability to work the school-defined schedule, typically 9-5 or 8-4
Experience working with the proposed age group
Experience supporting adults and children in using technology
Experience teaching online/virtual and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
Experience with online learning platforms
Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
