About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12's learning management system
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Maintain the grade book and academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Communicate regularly with students, parents, and learning coaches
- Support curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting needs
- Collaborate with administrators, teacher trainers, teachers, students, and families
- Travel approximately once per month or 20% of the time for professional development, student testing, and school functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Virginia Elementary Teaching Certificate
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Must be able to attend in-person professional development, testing, and other school events
- Strongly prefers candidates residing in Virginia; may consider candidates residing in Washington, DC or Maryland
- Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours
- Fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
