About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Serve as teacher of record for special education students
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process for self-contained and ALT students according to their IEPs
- Monitor progress toward IEP goals and maintain required service logs and compliance documentation
- Collaborate with parents, colleagues, general education teachers, and administrators on goals, curriculum, materials, accommodations, and modifications
- Create compliant IEPs, progress reports, and state-specific special education documentation
- Participate in annual IEP meetings, collaborative special education meetings, Professional Learning Communities, and data analysis meetings
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment and monitor student growth
- Collect data and work samples to monitor IEP progress
- Document parent contacts, teacher collaborations, and student interventions
- Provide special education services and support accommodations to promote IEP goal attainment
- Ensure inclusion and success in general education classrooms
- Maintain grade books, support placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to performance concerns
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Maintain positive relationships with families and communicate promptly with students and learning coaches/parents
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting
- Support in-person student testing
Requirements
What you’ll need- Texas residency required
- Texas Special Education and ESL preferred
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Strong written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time to support in-person student testing, attend professional development, or other travel as required by the school
- Ability to clear required background check
- Experience working with self-contained and ALT students in the proposed age group
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Experience teaching online (virtual) and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Experience with online learning platform
