About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support multilingual learners in K–12 virtual school programs
  • Provide targeted language instruction and foster English language development
  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
  • Personalize learning based on individual student needs
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Differentiate instruction based on student mastery
  • Augment course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools
  • Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
  • Make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Communicate regularly with students and learning coaches/parents
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Arizona English Language Learner Teaching Certification
  • Arizona Fingerprint Card
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • 0–1 year of related professional experience
  • SEI or ESL endorsement
  • Arizona residency preferred
  • Ability to attend in-person professional development, testing, and other school events
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
  • Experience working with the proposed age group preferred
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology preferred
  • Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment preferred
  • Experience with online learning platforms preferred
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
