About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
Personalize learning for all students
Differentiate instruction based on student level of mastery
Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from the principal and coach
Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
Make student placement and promotion decisions
Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular and instructional issues and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting
Monitor student progress through Stride K12's learning management system
Travel for professional development, student testing, and other school requirements
Deliver individualized online education for Indiana Digital Learning School students

Requirements

What you’ll need

English teaching certification for grades 8-12
If certification is from another state, obtain Indiana reciprocity within 60 days of employment
Indiana residency required
Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
Ability to travel as required, on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time
Experience working with the proposed age group is desired
Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology is desired
Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment is desired
Experience with online learning platforms is desired
Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data is desired
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is desired
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms is desired
Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum is desired
