About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance focused on students’ individual IEP needs
  • Manage the learning process and work with students and parents to advance learning
  • Ensure special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team
  • Coordinate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies
  • Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required state special education documentation
  • Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
  • Implement accommodations and modifications using assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
  • Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEP requirements
  • Support inclusion and student success in general education classrooms
  • Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals
  • Document parent contact and student interventions
  • Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
  • Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Maintain a grade book, ensure academic integrity, make placement and promotion decisions, and alert administrators to concerns
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches and parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Kansas Teaching Certification required
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators
  • Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to attend in-person professional development, testing, and other school events
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday, typically 9–5 or 8–4
  • Preferred residence in Kansas; candidates in Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, and Oklahoma may be considered
  • Desired: experience with the proposed age group, supporting adults and children in technology use, online or brick-and-mortar teaching, and online learning platforms
