About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences for students
  • Personalize learning for all students
  • Differentiate instruction based on student mastery level
  • Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under principal and coach guidance
  • Maintain the grade book and student academic integrity
  • Make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and other school requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • South Carolina Department of Education Middle School (5-8) ELA Teaching Certification Required
  • Must Reside in South Carolina
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
  • Ability to travel as required, on average once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time
  • Experience working with the proposed age group is desired
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology is desired
  • Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment is desired
  • Experience with online learning platforms is desired
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data is desired
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint is desired
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms is desired
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum is desired
