About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process

  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Travel as required, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school needs

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • North Carolina Middle School English Teaching Certification required
  • Must reside in North Carolina
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
  • Ability to work school hours, typically 9–5 or 8–4, as defined by the school
  • Experience working with the proposed age group desired
  • Experience supporting adults and children in using technology desired
  • Experience teaching in an online or brick-and-mortar environment desired
  • Experience with online learning platforms desired
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Ability to receive regular coaching from administrators and teacher trainers
  • Ability to adapt to change to ensure excellent student outcomes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint desired
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
