About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Personalize learning and differentiate instruction based on student mastery
- Monitor student progress through Stride K12's learning management system
- Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance learning toward established goals
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Augment course content using approved synchronous and asynchronous tools
- Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
- Make student placement and promotion decisions and alert administrators to performance concerns
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish positive rapport with families and communicate with students and parents/learning coaches in a timely manner
- Support parents/learning coaches with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel as required, averaging once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school functions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Michigan Teaching Certification required
- Middle School Math certificate required
- Must reside in Michigan
- Bachelor's degree
- Active state teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Full-time availability, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Desired: experience working with the proposed age group
- Desired: experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
- Desired: experience teaching online/virtually and/or in a brick-and-mortar environment
- Desired: experience with online learning platforms
- Desired: ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
- Desired: proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Desired: ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Desired: ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
