About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Deliver specific course content in an online environment
  • Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Personalize learning for all students and differentiate instruction based on mastery
  • Augment course content using appropriate asynchronous and synchronous tools under principal and coach guidance
  • Maintain the grade book and student academic integrity
  • Make student placement and promotion decisions
  • Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
  • Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
  • Build and maintain positive rapport with families
  • Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
  • Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
  • Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
  • Travel as required, averaging once per month or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and other school requirements
  • Work with teachers to interpret student data and use it to drive instructional decisions

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Active state teaching license
  • Arizona Middle School Math Teaching Certification required, or appropriate certification in another state with ability to obtain AZ licensure within 60 days of employment
  • Must reside in Arizona; surrounding-state candidates may be considered
  • Ability to clear required background check
  • Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
  • Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
  • Experience working with the proposed age group
  • Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
  • Experience teaching in an online/virtual and/or brick-and-mortar environment
  • Experience with online learning platforms
  • Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
  • Ability to maintain teacher certification/professional development hours and fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
