About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Deliver specific course content in an online environment
Provide instruction, support, and guidance
Manage the learning process and focus on students’ individual needs
Monitor student progress through Stride K12’s learning management system
Work closely with students and parents/learning coaches to advance student learning toward established goals
Provide rich and engaging synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
Personalize learning for all students
Differentiate instruction based on student mastery
Augment course content using prescribed asynchronous and synchronous tools under guidance from the principal and coach
Maintain the grade book and ensure student academic integrity
Make student placement and promotion decisions
Alert administrators to concerns about student performance and progress
Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
Establish and maintain positive rapport with families
Communicate with and respond to students and learning coaches/parents in a timely manner
Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
Travel as required, averaging once per month and/or approximately 20% of the time, for professional development, student testing, and school requirements

Requirements

What you’ll need

Florida 5 Year Professional 5-9 OR 6-12 Social Science Teaching Certificate
Residency in Florida
Bachelor's degree
Active state teaching license
Ability to clear required background check
Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
Ability to work typically 9-5 (or 8-4) or as defined by the school
Experience working with proposed age group
Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology
Experience teaching in an online (virtual) and/or brick-and-mortar environment
Experience with online learning platforms
Ability to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
Fluency in K12 systems, programs, and curriculum
