About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver specific course content in an online environment
- Provide instruction, support, and guidance while managing the learning process
- Focus on students’ individual needs as defined by each student’s Individualized Education Program
- Ensure special education and related services are provided as determined by the IEP team
- Communicate with parents and related service staff regarding appropriate therapies
- Develop compliant IEPs, progress reports, and required state-specific special education documentation
- Facilitate and lead collaborative special education meetings, including annual IEP meetings
- Use resources to provide accommodations and modifications, including assistive technology, supplemental curriculum, and accessible text
- Modify Stride K12 lessons and assessments according to IEP requirements
- Ensure inclusion and student success in the general education classroom
- Collect data and work samples to monitor progress toward IEP goals and objectives
- Document parent contact and student interventions
- Analyze student data to prescribe remediation and enrichment
- Provide synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
- Maintain a grade book and academic integrity; make placement and promotion decisions; alert administrators to performance concerns
- Prepare students for high-stakes standardized tests
- Establish positive rapport with families and communicate responsively with students and learning coaches/parents
- Support learning coaches/parents with curricular, instructional, and basic virtual-classroom troubleshooting issues
- Travel for face-to-face professional development, student testing, and/or as required by the school
Requirements
What you’ll need- Texas Special Education Certification
- Residency in Texas
- Bachelor's degree
- Active State Special Education teaching license
- Ability to clear required background check
- Ability to work independently, typically 40+ hours per week
- Ability to maintain a professional home office without distraction during the workday
- Ability to work Central Time, typically 8am–5pm
- Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers to interpret and produce numeric, tabular, and graphic representations of student data and use it to drive instructional decisions
- Receptive to receiving regular coaching from administrators
- Ability to embrace change and adapt to ensure excellent student outcomes
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint
- Ability to rapidly learn and adapt to new technologies and teaching platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
- Experience working with the proposed age group (desired)
- Experience supporting adults and children in the use of technology (desired)
- Experience teaching online or in a brick-and-mortar environment (desired)
- Experience with an online learning platform (desired)
