About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead editorial and creative direction for Stripe’s external media partnerships, including advertising content, research-led collaborations, and original editorial programs
  • Develop audience-native work rather than generic brand messaging
  • Turn Stripe’s data analyses, economic insights, and customer stories into clear, surprising, useful, and memorable content
  • Shape the editorial process by refining briefs, identifying strong ideas, directing creative development, and providing feedback on drafts and deliverables
  • Direct and manage agencies, external creators, and editorial partners
  • Write, edit, and improve content across blogs, newsletters, podcasts, advertising, social media, and other formats
  • Generate concepts for creative programs, editorial franchises, and nontraditional formats
  • Advise teams across Stripe and serve as a trusted thought partner on creative decisions
  • Collaborate with Brand Marketing, Brand Design, Content Marketing, Portfolio PMM, Copywriting, and Customer Marketing
  • Define and uphold quality standards for editorial and partnership work

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in editorial, writing, creative development, journalism, publishing, media, brand strategy, or a closely related field
  • Exceptional portfolio of published or public-facing work demonstrating strong writing and editing, original thinking, and audience resonance
  • Active engagement with newsletters, social platforms, and niche communities focused on technology, economics, science, business, and culture
  • Excellent editing skills, including diagnosing gaps, identifying compelling arguments, and improving work through feedback
  • Experience developing original editorial work, sponsored media, advertising, creative partnerships, or other high-quality audience-facing programs
  • Ability to translate complex subjects into accessible, non-simplistic work
  • Strong creative instincts and sophisticated design sensibility
  • Deep curiosity about the technology industry and its cultural and economic context
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders, external partners, writers, designers, marketers, and agencies without formal authority
  • Ability to move between strategy and execution
  • High standards, sound judgment, and pragmatism
