About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Counsel Stripe’s global product team on legal issues related to adopting artificial intelligence across the business, including data protection and privacy law, consumer protection, and product development
- Collaborate with engineering, partnerships, privacy, and security teams to provide pragmatic legal advice throughout the product development lifecycle, from scoping to launch
- Draft, review, and update internal and external-facing foundational terms and documents for Stripe products and services
- Monitor and analyze laws, regulatory updates, and industry trends concerning consumer financial data access and advise clients on potential product impacts
- Serve as a proactive business partner and trusted legal advisor on Stripe’s product roadmap and strategy
Requirements
What you’ll need- 8+ years of demonstrated experience either as a qualified lawyer in a top law firm or in-house legal team working with technology companies on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space
- Passion for working with technology and ability to understand complex operational and business models and multiple product use cases quickly
- Self-starter and self-learner who thrives in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple work streams and priorities simultaneously and efficiently
- Owner’s mindset and high judgment in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with incomplete information
- Strong communication and relational skills; ability to work cross-functionally with a sense of urgency while remaining collaborative
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to work under tight deadlines
- Expertise in the legal, commercial, and regulatory dynamics of AI and tech services
- Command of global data privacy regimes, including GDPR and CCPA
- Strategic thinking grounded in practical application of law, technology, and business goals
