About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Interpret Defined Benefit / Cash Balance Plan actuarial valuation elements and communicate issues to in-house actuaries and clients
  • Prepare and facilitate PBGC filings for covered Defined Benefit Plans
  • Maintain industry knowledge and share information with clients and team members
  • Monitor changing 401(k) and Defined Benefit Plan legislative requirements
  • Read and interpret legal plan documents and amendments
  • Discuss plan design changes and options with clients
  • Review 401(k) valuations, trust accounting, and accrual-basis government reporting
  • Perform and understand non-discrimination testing
  • Provide actuarial and administration support to clients
  • Perform benefit calculations, valuations, AFTAP, and Schedule B
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3-5+ years of retirement plan experience; small defined benefit plan experience preferred
  • Enrolled Actuary designation required to sign documents
  • Excellent knowledge of non-discrimination testing
  • Knowledge of Defined Benefit / Cash Balance actuarial valuation reports and PBGC filing requirements
  • Knowledge of advanced cross-testing concepts and ability to perform testing for cost-effective nondiscrimination solutions
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Experience with Relius, FT William, or similar administration system
  • Strong project management and leadership skills
  • High comfort with technology
  • Adaptability, creativity, proactivity, and eagerness to grow
