About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Develop and implement sourcing strategies and objectives for assigned commodities within Stryker’s Communications business, supporting divisional performance and business objectives
Lead and manage approximately four employees based in the US and Germany, as well as cross-functional groups
Drive strategic commodity planning, consolidation initiatives, and spend and supply assessments across the full product lifecycle
Oversee sourcing analysis and selection processes
Conduct cost evaluations and make-versus-buy assessments
Direct the creation of contract strategies
Negotiate, establish, monitor, and enforce supplier contracts and agreements
Identify supply base risks and develop and implement mitigation plans
Conduct market assessments and evaluate supplier financial stability, social responsibility, environmental impact, and ethical standards
Gather and share information on market conditions and technology trends related to commodities and suppliers
Implement cost controls and adapt business strategies
Lead development and execution of commodity strategies aligned with divisional priorities
Design and apply enterprise-wide metrics, tools, and processes to enhance sourcing and supplier management
Primarily support activities at the Tuttlingen site and travel to supplier and company sites

Requirements

What you’ll need

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Finance, Engineering or related field, required
Leadership experience functionally and disciplinary
5+ years in Supply Management with focus on strategic sourcing and supplier development
Knowledge and application of supplier contract strategy, negotiations, contractual terms, and contract administration
Knowledge of continuous improvement and cost reduction methodologies
Experience with supplier metrics and measurement methodologies and supporting systems
Strong skills in negotiations, influencing, communication and presentation, project management, troubleshooting and problem solving, analysis, strategic thinking, and collaborative team building
Strong judgment with the ability to make and communicate timely and sound decisions
Fluent German and English language skills, both C1 level, speaking and writing
Valid car driving license class B
Ability to travel up to approximately 20%
