About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and conduct performance and lifecycle testing on assigned projects and products
- Serve as testing representative and primary technical point of contact between the Test Lab and Product Development team
- Determine test protocols, screen design concepts, develop test methodologies, and coordinate testing with other lab equipment
- Coordinate lab staff to keep testing moving through 2nd and 3rd shift when needed
- Assist project teams from research through final verification testing
- Select test equipment, develop test methods, create customized test fixtures, set up test systems, and execute testing
- Design, develop, and implement test systems customized to products
- Apply laboratory practices, testing standards, procedures, statistical knowledge, and laboratory safety practices
- Communicate with stakeholders and lab teams
- Formulate test guidelines and procedures and recommend specification revisions
- Evaluate, recommend, and maintain engineering-related test systems
- Assist Test Lab management with priorities, scheduling, and technician training
- Proactively plan testing and involve Metrology, Quality, CAE, and Test Operations
- Support product commercialization and delivery of project milestones
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science is required, preference for Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology degree
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required with a B.S.
- Basic understanding of testing, testing equipment, good laboratory practices, and department metrics
- Proficient use of common laboratory test equipment is required
- Effective interpersonal communication skills are required
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 40 lbs.
- Mechanical/electrical/software problem-solving skills desired
- Comfortable and confident speaking in front of small to medium groups of people
- Test Lab/Test Systems experience preferred
- Exercise discretion and independence when applying professional expertise
- Able to manage time and projects proactively, complete documentation accurately, and bring tasks through to completion with minimal supervision
- Able to analyze and correct complex processes and/or product issues using independent judgment
- Medical Device experience in a highly regulated environment a plus
