About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop strategic sourcing strategies for assigned suppliers and/or commodities for the MAKO business unit
- Obtain the best quality, service, and value through bidding, negotiation, and supplier management
- Develop and implement cost reduction, supply base optimization and rationalization, quality improvement, risk assessment, and contract negotiation strategies
- Implement supplier and commodity strategies, including spend and supply assessments, consolidation, sourcing selection, financial analysis, and make-versus-buy analysis
- Build relationships with key suppliers and internal business disciplines
- Represent the supplier perspective within the organization
- Negotiate long-term supply contracts and resolve supplier challenges
- Identify supply base risks and implement mitigation plans
- Use market trends to identify cost controls and business strategy changes
- Perform cost analyses with Value Engineering and conduct cost-based supplier negotiations
- Establish cost standards for annual operating budgets
- Lead scorecards and business reviews for key suppliers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, Finance, Engineering or related field or equivalent experience
- 8 years of experience in supply chain management, including at least 5+ years in strategic sourcing
- Experience operating in a highly regulated industry
- Demonstrated excellence in contractual negotiations and administration to obtain best prices and terms
- Experience assessing and mitigating supply base risk
- International procurement and supplier management experience
- Ability to be physically present at a Stryker location weekly
- Ability to travel 10%
