About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide legal support to the Hong Kong Branch under appropriate supervision
Advise the Branch on legal and documentation matters and all matters/transactions
Prepare and review legal documentation for day-to-day banking business, including lending, securities/collateral, structured trade finance, cash management, asset-based lending, acquisition finance, derivatives, debt capital markets products and service contracts
Liaise with external counsel and manage transactions or projects involving external counsel
Develop policies and procedures to manage legal and documentation risks
Advise on the Bank’s business initiatives
Provide relevant internal training, including managing external lawyers for training
Support Head Office and other branches regarding Hong Kong SAR law
Escalate complex, material or non-standard legal issues
Perform ad hoc duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need

Qualified Hong Kong solicitor
Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience
Experience from top international law firms, preferably from banking / finance departments
In-house experience with large financial institutions is highly desirable
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Willingness to learn new things and take up new challenges
Good understanding of regulatory requirements/matters applicable to the Branch
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese languages
Independent, resilient, trustworthy, team-oriented, proactive, responsive and practical-minded
Satisfactory completion of the Mandatory Reference Check process for in-scope positions
