About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to improve organizational performance
  • Oversee the integrity and quality of safety protocols at individual profit centers within the assigned geographical area
  • Conduct profit center safety compliance inspections and audits covering employee training, facility regulatory compliance, vehicle fleet/DOT compliance, and shop and equipment rental fleet compliance
  • Work with Profit Center Managers to assign the correct Safety Coordinator
  • Provide training and guidance to Safety Coordinators on policies and procedures
  • Identify inspection deficiencies and provide written evaluations with corrective action requirements
  • Deliver ongoing safety training modules to employees
  • Assist Safety Coordinators with required training, safety meeting coordination, and maintenance of the Safety Training & Documentation Manual
  • Track and trend profit centers to identify adherence to the Leading Indicator Program and areas needing attention
  • Develop an annual strategic SH&E Business Plan with the Regional Vice President
  • Distribute weekly regional reports covering injuries, VIRs, near misses, and trends
  • Lead monthly Safety Coordinator phone calls
  • Develop and lead the annual regional Safety Coordinator Boot Camp
  • Train and monitor staff on Sunbelt Rentals Behavior Based Safety Tools
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations and reporting requirements
  • Participate in monthly profit center safety meetings and assist with Safety Stand Down meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working with Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems and implementation of safety programs
  • Good written and verbal skills when addressing either individuals or groups
  • Ability to present information in classroom or conference call settings
  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan with measurable goals based on leading and lagging indicator performance
  • Ability to track and trend performance of multiple locations based on incident data
  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organized
  • Ability and willingness to travel; overnight travel required
  • General overview of OSHA construction and general industry regulation knowledge
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more, as required by the job
  • May require driving for long periods, loading and unloading heavy equipment, working in extreme weather conditions, and/or night and weekend work
