About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Oversee all aspects of occupational safety management at assigned profit centers
  • Implement and ensure adherence to safety policies and programs
  • Communicate safety issues to the Safety Director
  • Prepare reports and recommend procedures to improve organizational performance
  • Oversee the integrity and quality of safety protocols at branches within the assigned geographical area
  • Conduct safety compliance inspections and audits covering employee training, facility regulatory compliance, vehicle fleet/DOT compliance, and shop and equipment rental fleet compliance
  • Provide training and guidance to Branch Safety Coordinators
  • Identify inspection deficiencies and provide written evaluations with corrective action requirements
  • Assist Branch and Service Managers with corrective action completion timelines
  • Support required training, safety meeting coordination, and maintenance of the Safety Training & Documentation Manual
  • Track and trend regional and branch performance using leading and lagging indicators
  • Develop an annual strategic SH&E Business Plan with the Vice President and Regional Managers
  • Lead monthly Safety Coordinator calls
  • Develop and lead the annual Safety Coordinator Boot Camp
  • Train and monitor staff on Sunbelt Rentals Safety Tools
  • Support incident and near-miss investigations and reporting requirements
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings and assist with Safety Stand Down meetings

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working with Safety, Health and Environmental Management Systems and implementation of safety programs
  • Preferred Safety Certification - OHST, CHST, SMS, GSP
  • Good written and verbal skills when addressing either individuals or groups
  • Ability to present information in classroom or conference call settings
  • Ability to develop and execute a strategic plan that includes measurable goals based on leading and lagging indicator performance
  • Ability to track and trend performance of multiple locations based on incident data obtained through internal tracking mechanisms
  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organized
  • Ability and willingness to travel; overnight travel required
  • General overview of OSHA construction and general industry regulation knowledge
  • Working knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation safety
  • Proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crouch and/or reach and lift up to 25 pounds or more
  • Some Sunbelt jobs may require driving for long periods of time, loading and unloading heavy equipment, working in extreme weather conditions, and/or night and weekend work
