About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Lead a team of employee and vendor resources to obtain utility interconnection for Sunrun customers
  • Establish operational objectives, including forecasting and tracking interconnection volume, cycle time, headcount, and budget
  • Manage interconnection pipeline execution and implement processes to reduce cycle time and rework
  • Set performance standards and targets and manage team performance using scorecards, tools, and systems
  • Identify pipeline issues, trends, and concerns and implement mitigating actions
  • Work with stakeholders to implement policy and process changes in response to changing utility requirements
  • Deliver pipeline performance and cycle time insights to the Director of Rebates and Interconnection and regional business partners
  • Meet with Install, Sales, Design, Permitting, and Project Management leadership regarding pipeline progress and cycle times
  • Build relationships with utilities and incentive programs to simplify processes and resolve issues quickly
  • Collaborate with Products and Policy to launch new markets and products
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes, improve customer experience, and increase realization
  • Drive performance metrics for permit and interconnection application submissions and approvals, corrections, and PTO cycle timelines
  • Serve as subject matter expert on interconnection processes and resolve or escalate issues
  • Establish professional business relations with utilities and educate them on multifamily processes
  • Train and onboard new hires and develop training materials
  • Recommend and implement interconnection process and project lifecycle improvements

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience, preferably in Project Management, Operations, Construction with experience in permitting and/or interconnection, preferably within the solar industry
  • Preferable 2+ years of progressive leadership positions
  • Strong understanding of solar and storage utility interconnection and incentives
  • History of leading teams with direct impact on customer experience and organizational financial outcomes
  • Risk analysis, critical thinking, and ability to provide solutions
  • Experience managing, motivating, training and developing remote teams
  • Ability to establish operational objectives, plan and prioritize to achieve team goals, and pivot based on impact or importance
  • Skilled in defining efficient and repeatable processes and driving process improvements at scale
  • Ability to untangle complicated situations and define a clear path forward
  • History of building and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to read and understand plan sets
