About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Co-develop and execute the go-to-market strategy for the Energy Business Unit with the Energy Director
- Build, manage and continuously optimise the sales pipeline and funnel, including targets, KPIs, forecasting and performance management
- Identify and prioritise target markets and customer segments, including expansion into VPP, EOS and predictive asset management software
- Lead and grow a small, dedicated sales team as a player coach
- Generate new business across European and global energy markets through expert-led selling, conference networking and public tenders
- Leverage an existing industry network and build relationships with TSOs, DSOs, utilities, traders, project developers, investors, EPCs, generation aggregators and technology partners
- Represent Supercharge at relevant industry conferences, events and forums
- Run long, multi-year, RFP- and tender-driven sales cycles from early shaping through bid, negotiation and close
- Coordinate cross-functional teams on commercial and technical submissions, bid governance, qualification discipline and win-rate optimisation
- Own pricing strategy for productised solutions across implementation, licence-based and recurring-fee models
- Develop business cases, shape offerings, launch products and enter new segments with the Energy Director and consultants
- Engage with the AI unit to combine energy and AI offerings
- Turn domain problems into solution cores and AI add-ons while protecting and commercialising intellectual property
- Negotiate commercial agreements and contracts and develop strategic partnerships and alliances
- Grow anchor accounts, including major UK interconnector clients, through senior relationships and upselling
- Maintain an accurate forward-looking pipeline and brief operations on upcoming work
- Own the Energy Business Unit’s commercial results, measured by revenue and gross margin
Requirements
What you’ll need- Deep knowledge of the UK and European energy sector, including TSOs, DSOs, utilities, traders and aggregators
- Track record of selling productised or solution-led software offerings within the energy vertical
- Experience selling B2B software and custom technology solutions
- At least 5-8 years in business development, commercial leadership or solution sales, including ownership of a target and its strategy
- Experience structuring and pricing licence, subscription or operating-fee deals
- Experience running long, multi-stakeholder, RFP- and tender-driven sales cycles and formal public procurement
- Technical fluency to engage clients and engineers, including working knowledge of trade optimisation/automation, forecasting, dispatch and asset management
- Experience leading or mentoring a sales team, or appetite to step into a player-coach role
- Active energy-industry network
- Ability to work independently and bring structure to a developing role
- Familiarity with energy trading workflows, large-scale energy-asset infrastructure, or commercialising productised and solution-core offerings is a bonus
- Experience selling internationally across multiple energy markets is a bonus
- A degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or Economics and/or an MBA is a bonus
