About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical problems on Supermicro equipment at enterprise customer sites, both on-site and remotely
  • Lead preventive maintenance actions and manage repair and parts cycle times to drive customer satisfaction
  • Manage and quickly correct escalations professionally
  • Provide second-line support to resellers and distributors across customer support activities
  • Maintain a high level of enterprise solution product knowledge
  • Collaborate with Technical Account, Service, and Product Managers to define service programs
  • Provide fault triage information and contribute training materials
  • Run tests and simulations at the company facility to support problem-solving
  • Travel to customer sites to train personnel and resolve customer issues
  • Train new service engineers
  • Work under Technical Account Manager direction while taking ownership of the customer base
  • Produce meaningful reports and metrics
  • Determine requirements and root causes of technical issues with customers
  • Clarify issues, research solutions, implement resolutions, and escalate unresolved problems
  • Manage time, prioritize work, and make effective business judgments while meeting daily service expectations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred
  • Associate degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent military experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in field support servicing complex X86 systems and parts preferred
  • Experience in large enterprises or certification in Windows and Linux environments is a plus
  • Break/fix experience and on-site customer service experience
  • Hands-on experience with servers, including Supermicro, EMC, DELL, and HP
  • Solid hardware system diagnostics skills and understanding of how BIOS, drivers, and application loads can cause system issues
  • Strong technical communication skills to lead investigations with engineers of multiple disciplines
  • Strong written and verbal communication, project management, and time management skills
  • Ability to participate in multiple concurrent cross-functional projects and learn and embrace new technologies
  • Ability to work in a challenging, dynamic, fast-paced environment and identify and escalate issues promptly
  • Full professional proficiency in English (read/write/speak)
  • Familiarity with Linux is a plus
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts, including weekends and holidays if needed
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
