About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform on-site and remote troubleshooting and resolve complex technical problems on Supermicro equipment in enterprise environments
- Drive customer satisfaction through service excellence
- Lead preventive maintenance actions and manage repair/parts cycle times
- Manage and quickly correct escalation situations
- Provide second-line support to resellers and distributors
- Maintain a high level of enterprise solution product knowledge
- Work with Technical Account, Service, and Product Managers to define service programs
- Provide fault-triage information and contribute training materials
- Run tests and simulations at the facility to assist problem-solving
- Travel to the field to train and resolve customer issues
- Train new service engineers
- Work under the Technical Account Manager’s direction and take ownership of the customer base
- Demonstrate self-sufficiency in the field and defuse challenging situations
- Manage time, prioritize work, and make effective business decisions while meeting daily service expectations
- Determine requirements and root causes of technical issues with customers
- Resolve problems by clarifying issues, researching answers and alternatives, implementing solutions, and escalating unresolved problems
- Produce meaningful reports and metrics
- Provide technical support for the Memphis, Tennessee geographic location
- Attend customer sites regularly as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience preferred
- Associate degree in electrical technology, electronics, or equivalent military experience considered
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in field support servicing complex X86 systems and parts preferred
- Work experience in large enterprises or certification in Windows and Linux environments is a plus
- Break/fix experience and on-site customer service experience
- Hands-on experience with servers, including Supermicro, EMC, DELL, and HP
- Solid hardware system diagnostics skills
- Understanding of how BIOS, drivers, and application loads can cause system issues
- Strong technical communication skills
- Written and verbal communication, project management, and time management skills
- Ability to participate in multiple concurrent cross-functional projects and learn changing technologies
- Ability to work in a challenging, dynamic, fast-paced environment and escalate issues promptly
- Full professional proficiency in English (read/write/speak)
- Familiarity with Linux is a plus
- Ability to work flexible hours and/or shifts, including weekends and holidays if needed
- Ability to travel up to 25%
