About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, enhance, and add functionality to Synchrony database platforms
- Provide operational support for database platforms
- Provide technical oversight, architecture, design expertise, guidance, interdepartmental coordination, and vendor direction
- Implement infrastructure as code for database platforms
- Perform software configuration management for databases
- Automate database operations and migrations
- Implement monitoring and logging solutions for database technology stacks and container orchestration platforms
- Apply cloud operations knowledge, including attached volume lifecycle, autoscaling, cloud-config, security, and instance lifecycle
- Implement AWS database automation from build through day-to-day support
- Architect, implement, and maintain automation tools to reduce operational and development complexity
- Collaborate to troubleshoot and resolve escalated production issues
- Establish and consult on best practices and standard operating procedures
- Deploy and support automation systems and tooling in a 24x7 production environment
- Assess usage and utilization trends and recommend architecture scaling designs and implementations
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience performing systems automation on Database platforms
- Deep expertise in at least one database technology
- Experience working on or leading teams performing systems automation and integration
- Competence in scripting and programming languages for automation
- 3+ years of Public Cloud (AWS RDS) experience configuring databases for mission-critical, highly available, high-throughput applications
- 3+ years of expert knowledge of Linux, Unix, or Windows systems
- 5+ years’ experience as a Senior DBA or Database Automation Engineer
- Expertise designing/configuring mission-critical, highly available, high-throughput databases
- Experience with production systems and production issues
- Understanding of cloud service and deployment models
- Database experience with RDS, PostgreSQL, Cassandra, MySQL, Oracle, DynamoDB, or DocumentDB
- Experience with streaming services such as Kinesis
- Scripting proficiency in Terraform, Python, and Shell
- Experience migrating databases from on-premises to public cloud
- AWS Cloud certification and Terraform certification desired
- Availability between 06:00 AM and 11:30 AM Eastern Time
- Ability to commute or travel to Hyderabad or a Regional Engagement Hub for in-person activities as directed by management
