About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Drive safety and soundness priorities across the CoreTech organization
- Prepare the organization for internal and external exams and lead exam execution
- Drive risk identification, treatment, remediation, and strengthening of the risk and control framework
- Lead CoreTech governance and risk resources
- Manage and coordinate OCC, FRB, Internal Audit, 2LOD, and penetration test exams/tasks using a risk-based approach
- Explain technical challenges, solutions, and business risk to non-technical leaders
- Liaise with Information Security on risk management
- Oversee PCI evidence delivery in CoreTech
- Proactively evaluate the control environment and identify risks
- Drive automation in control-environment assessments
- Communicate issues-remediation work and coordinate with the Tech and Ops Issues Management team
- Lead continuous improvements in issues management
- Own the Audit Readiness program and surveillance task calendar
- Facilitate creation and renewal of Policies, Standards, and Procedures and ensure PRC framework documentation
- Review FFIEC guidance and ensure Synchrony compliance
- Collaborate across technology on issues remediation and SOX compliance
- Serve as Product Owner for the CoreTech Governance board, participate in Agile ceremonies, and drive PI Planning
- Liaise with Tech and Ops Governance and second- and third-line defense teams
- Facilitate challenging conversations with senior leadership
- Create and update dashboards communicating status and productivity
- Advocate for good risk practices and perform assigned special projects
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8+ years of either Technology or Risk Management, or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 12+ years of Technology and Agile Portfolio Management experience
- Demonstrated experience of governance and/or risk management
- Strong people leadership skills
- Demonstrated experience working in a matrixed environment and influencing leaders at all levels
- Strong presentation and communication skills with a demonstrated business presence when interacting with senior business executives
- Experience partnering, collaborating, and influencing across a large multilayered organization
- Experience handling multiple, competing priorities across stakeholder groups and resolving competing priorities with minimal disruption
- Minimum 7 years of Technology or Risk Management experience
- Must be 18 years or older
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Willingness to take a drug test, submit to a background investigation, and submit fingerprints during onboarding
- Ability to satisfy Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.; employment visa sponsorship is not available
